Yes. The key is being able to distinguish between factory privacy glass and an aftermarket window film, as the majority of new trucks & SUVs come equipped with privacy glass from the factory on the rear half of the vehicle only.

However, we highly recommend adding aftermarket window film over your factory privacy glass for the benefit of 99% UV rejection, enhanced heat absorption, and additional privacy, as most factory privacy glass allows 20% – 30% of light through the windows and offers little to no performance benefits.

Some vehicles may be purchased from the dealer with aftermarket window film already installed, which you can assess whether to keep it or replace it with a film of your choosing.

The State of California allows any shade (VLT) of window film on the rear half of all vehicles, up to a 4” strip along the top edge of windshields, and 88% VLT or above on front passenger & driver side windows.

The obvious response to these laws is that 88% VLT on front windows is virtually transparent, but we don’t make the rules.

Window film shades are measured by VLT, or visual light transmission. Essentially, the VLT is the amount of light that can pass through a window film. A lower VLT (5% for example) will have less light transmission and appear darker. A higher VLT (75% for example) will have more light transmission and appear lighter.

We see the average vehicle owner desires to have around a 15% overall VLT for ideal appearance without poor night time visibility. However, we advise you to choose a window film shade that correlates with your lifestyle, vehicle type, comfort level, and driving visibility preferences.

The average full vehicle takes a trained installer 2 – 3 hours to complete including all side windows and rear glass. Full windshield tinting can take 1 – 1.5 hours to complete. Additional windows, sun strips, and oversized or exotic vehicles will vary depending on project scale.
